GTA IV

GTA IV… just heard the title made me think “heck.. THIS is the one i’ve been waiting for! this is the one that going to be my best 2008 game!”. So I bought the xbox360 version (by the way it’s not original, the original one will cost me about 500,000 IDR so I bought the “bajakan” version for 30,000 IDR). heh so much for the privacy. So I got the game and put it into the console, Rockstar logo apperars and then loading screen with GTA style, then with no menu screen the game starts instantly… showing a ship. the first impression I got… DAMN THIS IS GOOD! so it’s GTA time for me
these are the reason of my good first impression:
-breathtaking graphic (although they said the PS3 version better).
-excellent gameplay (free roaming).
-very nice voice actor works (especially the east-european accent).
-a very good improvement in the combat system (for the melee now you can perform counter-attack, block, and grapple, and for the firefight you can use cover, and perform blindfire just like in “killswitch”).
-and a very deep storyline and finally takes place in recent date(it feels like i’m watching a movie).
BUT! nothing last forever… as I played the game (I played it like hell, about 5-7 hours a day), then suddenly I finished it, and I realized I finished the game below 36 hours (FYI, i used the health cheat) and it just SUCKS! when I played GTA:San Andreas in PC, which I used ammo and health trainer, the game last for at least 2-3 weeks! and the GTA IV ending sucks by the way.
these are the reason of my dissapoinment of GTA IV:
- a very short story (compare to the long complex story of San Andreas).
- a very small map (compare to the 3 big cities plus countryside of San Andreas’s Map).
- many of the unique place are untouched in the mission (such as: airport, jail interior, docks, etc).
- we can’t buy assets, which are the BIGGEST of my dissapointment by the way, it’s just feel fun if we can buy stripclub, showroom, etc.
- as long as I know, we can’t fly a plane, we can fly heli, but it’s pretty rare in Liberty City.
- there are no army forces anymore (sure, a tank on a street is pretty weird, but it’s fun, at least for me) so if you reach 6 stars wanted level, you only got chased by SWAT team (by the way the name is NOOSE)
But I still admit that GTA IV is one of the most great game in 2008, but for me, who played GTA:vice city and San Andreas, the GTA IV isn’t as addictive as it’s predescessor.
in the end GTA IV is NOT going to be “MY BEST 2008 GAME”.
Waiting for the FALLOUT 3 and FABLE 2….
